Take On Helicopters introduces the player to three distinct classes of helicopter: light, medium and heavy. Each has a flight model suited to the characteristics of its class, meaning – aside from any other external factors (like wind or the weight of your cargo) – each helicopter itself can be tuned to feel distinctive.
Light Helicopter
Within each class, we’ve got multiple variants – including (at least) one armed set up – that are designed to perform different roles. Equipment such as winches, sling-lines, fast rope hooks, external cameras, and so on, help to generate a wide range of things to do across a number of different helicopters!
The lightest class of helicopter available, it is best characterised by its agile and responsive behaviour. The helicopter typically seats four to five people; a pilot and copilot in the front and either two or three passengers in the back.
Throughout its lifespan this range of helicopter has undergone various revisions. Some featured an additional main rotor blade, bringing the total to five. Other differences included increased engine power and anti-torque systems.
1] Military
Aside from being used as an unarmed observation helicopter, the light helicopter also comes equipped with various weapons systems. This model has two multi-barrel and high rate of fire machine guns mounted on small wings. Aside from these, pilots have access to two unguided rocket pods.
To aid target tracking and night operations, the helicopter has an exterior Forward-Looking InfraRed (FLIR) dome mounted. The flight crew can find and track thermal signatures from within the cockpit

4] ION Tactical
ION, Inc’s training helicopter.
Used in both training and combat exercises, this helicopter takes side-mounted operators into the air, low through valleys, and into fast-insertion and extraction zones!
Medium Helicopter
With its four-blade composite main rotor system, this is a proven multi-role helicopter capable of many emergency rescue and law enforcement roles. It replaces an older, but similar model which featured only two rotor blades.
This class of helicopter is known for its reliability in extreme conditions and climates. It has a large cabin which can cater for cargo or up to thirteen passengers. The tough construction and bulkheads provide protection to those inside in case of roll-over. Having two engines also allows the aircraft to land even after a full single engine malfunction.
1] Coast Guard
This is the specially-equipped Search and Rescue variant of the medium class of helicopters. Its interior caters for in-flight medical assistance, and it features wider side-doors that offer more cabin space to patients on stretchers.
Finding casualties stranded in hard-to-reach locations is assisted by a searchlight. Getting them aboard can be achieved through the use of a winch system, which lowers a rescue-worker down, attaches the casualty to his harness and raises them both towards the helicopter.
2] Sheriff
A medium helicopter variant – custom-tailored for the State Sheriff’s Office – identified by its unique paint scheme and markings. It comes equipped with a powerful searchlight to illuminate the environment in low-visibility conditions.
This helicopter is also frequently used to deploy tactical law enforcement officers by means of fast-rope insertion. The ropes are attached to both sides of the cabin, enabling officers to quickly rope down. Once everyone is safely on the ground, the ropes are detached.
3] Luxury
The executive and VIP market is expanding rapidly, and these types of client require more luxurious and comfortable helicopter configurations.
The executive model of the medium helicopter has an interior cabin with large leather seats and high quality interior finishing and details.
4] Military
While often used in civilian roles, the medium helicopter is perhaps even more well-known for its military service.
It can be expanded by various advanced systems and components, such as Forward-Looking InfraRed, a searchlight, a winch and cargo hooks.
Heavy Helicopter
A large and powerful workhorse that can be used for heavy external (sling-load) and internal (cargo) transport operations.
This modern twin-engine helicopter has enough interior space to transport large payloads or fully loaded squads of military personnel. Furthermore, it has enough horsepower to be able to lift heavy external loads, including small vehicles.

The Vrana Corp. heavy helicopter is a powerful workhorse that can be used for heavy external (sling-load) and internal (cargo) transport operations.
2] Military
While primarily a utility helicopter this variant has a machine gun mounted on the rear cargo ramp for defensive purposes.
Its large interior payload and sling load capabilities make it an effective aircraft for quickly deploying goods and personnel to Forward Operating Bases.
